Frequently Asked Questions

How long does therapy last ?
Every therapy relationship is unique so there is no fixed timeframe. In most cases lasting change comes from working together over a number of months rather than weeks. Initially we may agree to work together for 6 weeks, to get to know each other and consider a longer term commitment.

Why are sessions once a week ?
Therapy sessions are weekly at a regular time and last 60 minutes. Most people come to therapy seeking to change deeply rooted patterns which are making them unhappy. Change requires us not only to understand what may be disturbing or limiting us, it involves experiencing our feelings and exploring new ways of being. Regularity and frequency of sessions builds the safe supportive 'container' for change to take place.

What does therapy cost ?
Fees are £80 per session (£70 for students and unwaged). This is an investment in you, in your life.

What happens about holidays or misses sessions ?
I give ample notice of any breaks taken by me - usually a week or two at Easter and Christmas and three to four weeks over the summer. It is important to alert me in advance of any dates when you are unable to attend your session so that we can explore an alternative date. Cancellations at short notice can be difficult to rearrange. Fees are payable for all missed sessions unless otherwise agreed in advance.

What is your approach to confidentiality ?
As a UKCP (United Kingdom for Psychotherapy) accredited practitioner I abide by a strict code of ethics which requires that the content of each session be held in confidence between us. As required by UKCP, my client work is reviewed with a qualified and accredited psychotherapy supervisor. Client anonymity is adhered to at all times.
